Immigration Minister Peter Dutton had a massive fail on the weekend, when he mistakenly sent a SMS calling NewsCorp political editor Samantha Maiden a “mad f***ing witch” to her instead of besieged MP Jamie Briggs. The sledge was made in response to Maiden’s criticism of Briggs.
After she received the message, Maiden is reported to have told Dutton that he sent the message by mistake to the mad witch. Dutton immediately apologised and Maiden said she was not offended by his mobile phone malfunction.
Despite Maiden herself not being offended, it raises some serious questions about the character of our Immigration Minister who believes its appropriate to call a woman a mad f***ing witch to a colleague behind her back. In my opinion that shows some serious character flaws on his part.
How would Dutton feel if the same was said about his wife? He has used derogatory language which is unbecoming of a senior member of the government.
In September, Dutton was caught out with another gaffe when he was caught making a joke with then Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Social Services Minister Scott Morrison about rising sea levels in the Pacific. When Abbott made a comment about punctuality in a trip to the Pacific, Dutton replied “time doesn’t mean anything when you’re about to have water lapping at your door”.rm
