Grant’s lack of experience the Nat’s problem

The member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser has hit out at Nationals leader Troy Grant saying he suffers from a lack of political experience according to Fairfax.

Grant was elected to state parliament in 2011 and became leader in 2014 when he succeeded Andrew Stoner. Grant was elected unopposed.

If as Fraser claims Grant lacks experience then why was he elected unopposed as leader of the Nationals and thus Deputy Premier of NSW? Was there nobody else in the party room up to the job or were they just not wanting the extra responsibility?

While Grant deserves to be dumped as leader after the Orange by-election it’s a little harsh to criticise his inexperience when he was the only person running for the job. Perhaps if Fraser thought he was inexperienced he should have ran himself.
